Just 3 hours from London! We have reached another paradise! Gozo is a real place!! I didn’t just make it up!! Friends said…. enjoy Malta…. I am not in Malta….. Malta is a whole world away, built up towns, modern cars, proper roads! Plans were to do 1 day in Malta but after reaching Gozo, it didn’t happen! We took the ferry across from Malta to Gozo and there we stayed for the duration!!
Gozo island spans just 4 miles by 7 miles. Its a unique and beautiful Island with a mind of its own and known to be one of the safest places in the world! All the locals just hang outside of their homes on these quiet streets. Everyone knows everyone and tourists do stick out but are very welcome on the Island.
To stay and get around, you do need a car! The island is a maze of steep and narrow winding roads and tight corners.
Petrol pumps just randomly appear on the pavement outside someones house!!!
Like nowhere I have been before but so interesting. It is quite fun to get about, like driving through medieval towns. Everything within easy reach and a whole lot of history with it. Churches and shrines on every corner.
If you want a bit of peace and quiet, without millions of tourists and without that resort feel, then you can head to Gozo. Ample places to explore, coffee shops, restaurants, bakeries, markets, there is no shortage.
Restaurants move their tables further and further into the street. Weather just perfect enough to sit out and dine for the evening. If you get a table somewhere, you have it for the evening, there is no rush to move or vacate your table! Everyone is very relaxed!
The bays enveloping the perimeter of Gozo are just spectacular. There are several, it is worth doing them all.
We have truly had the most epic holiday! Last year, I had hoped to take the kids to Mauritius…. it is one if my dreams to take the kids to those crystal clear waters and golden sand. It was where we went on our honeymoon and after 17 yrs, tickets were booked to return. Most of you will know the outcome of that story!! Stupid cancer came and foiled my plans. Holiday was cancelled and a hefty deposit lost.
Never the less, the Island of Comino came pretty close and my heart swelled up watching my little fishies bobbing in and out of the water. It was magical!
We took a private boat out and explored the Island. Kids faces were a picture! I sat in the boat and thought, I can jump out of this thing but getting back in might be a bit of a hassle. I am like an 80 year old at the moment, my bones feel brittle, I just don’t have my super strength that I had before. Needless to say, 2 minutes later, I had jumped in! I was leaving nothing!
I thought I was a hero and swam right across the blue lagoon and took Suraj with me to climb over the rocks and through the caves. It was an opportunity not to be missed. I kept thinking to myself….. stage 4…. PAH….. whatever!!! I was loving every minute of it. Made some special memories! I am usually very active on holiday but right now, my body weighs a ton and it is not easy to manouvre around! Swimming in the sea is something else, the waters so warm and inviting….. We could have stayed until sunset.
I proper crashed after that! My body doesn’t want to do what my head is pushing for! I don’t regret any of it. If I want to do stuff, I can but I do pay for it afterwards. I knew we were travelling the next day and Gurv and the kids were good enough to pack us completely and get us on the flight without me having to do much at all! I used special assistance at the airport so I didn’t need to wait or queue anywhere which was a real help.
So glad we had the opportunity to do this before the next chapter in my treatment begins!
There are a hundred thoughts going through my mind every day, some of strength, some of confidence but some of sadness and fear. I can’t change that right now but I can live my best life every day that I can. I am here in the moment and I will not let that moment just pass!
Eat
Sleep
Cure it
Repeat
Let the adventures continue x
Wow Sal… you do know how to pack it all in! Love seeing your boys smiling faces knowing you’re making the best memories together. You’re like the Duracell bunny… just keeps on going 🤣🤣

Ahh Michelle, you just made me chuckle!!! I wish !! Really not feeling like the duracel bunny right now….. more like a fried egg, lying on the floor with the yolk burst all over! Just one flight coming between me and my bed 🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴
Not complaining though…. was worth every second 💞💪🏽👊🏽
